DISASTEROUS OCEANIC ARRIVAL OF HURRICANE IKE

SOUTHEASTERN COASTAL TEXAS- Hurricane Ike arrived as an oceanic event that deluged the coastal communities of Texas and Louisiana with a punch from the ocean side of a storm to be remembered. Although this storm did not measure up to the hype as "the storm of the century", it did wipe out communities along the coast in this disasterous event consisting of major tide surge and battering waves. As of September 15th, over 2 million people in the region are still without power. The long track of Hurricane Ike from its origination off the coast of Africa, has a history of a cyclone with a lot of muscle. As it tracked across Cuba, we all witnessed what was coming to the US coast. (The Internet can be searched for a barrage of video to view moments in all aspects of this event.) HOUSTON, TEXAS, AFTER THE COASTAL DELUGE OF HURRICANE IKE, IT STRUCK HERE.

MANY OF THE HI-RISES SUSTAINED BROKEN WINDOW DAMAGE. THE DANGER IN BEING OUT IN THE CITY DURING THE STORM WAS THE FALLING GLASS. THE SOUND OF IT DESCRIBED BY WITNESSES WAS ABOUT ENOUGH. MOST BUILDINGS IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON HAD THIS WINDOW DAMAGE.

TORNADO WARNINGS ARE COMMON AS A HURRICANE MAKES LANDFALL. BUT UNLIKE TROPICAL STORM FAY AND HURRICANE GUSTAV, ONLY A DOZEN TORNADOES WERE REPORTED DURING THE REMNANT PERIOD.
